Namaspa Teacher Training

Now, more than any other time, the world needs inspirational, authentic, peaceful leaders.  This Yoga Teacher training will empower you to help change the lives of others for the better, and to find ever-increasing levels of health, confidence and connection for yourself. 

Graduates will be eligible to be 200 Registered Yoga Teachers by Yoga Alliance.

Overview:
  • Learn to design and teach a challenging power vinyasa yoga class
  • Learn basic anatomy and physiology as it applies to specific yoga poses and common injuries
  • Learn the breakdown, alignment, modifications, and sequencing of postures
  • Learn how to assist, evaluate bodies physically, emotionally and prevent injuries
  • Learn Ujayii and other Pranayama breathing techniques to incorporate into your class
  • Participate in Practice-teaching sessions, intimate study groups, observing and assisting classes
  • Yoga philosophy that will guide you in your daily life
  • Learn Yoga's roots or beginnings and compare/contrast Eastern and Western practices
  • Learn the lifestyles and ethics for yoga teachers
  • Learn effective presentation and communication skills to teach to different levels of health and ability
  • Learn the business of yoga and how to run your own studio
Program Curriculum
  • Techniques ~ 100 hours
  • Teaching Methodology ~ 25 hours
  • Anatomy and Physiology ~ 20 hours
  • Philosophy/Ethics/Lifestyle ~ 30 hours
  • Practicum ~ 25 hours
  • Homework and Exams ~20 hours
  • One-On-One Monthly Meetings ~ 3 hours
Requirements:
  • Pre-requisite:  6 months minimum practice at Namaspa Power Yoga, or Completed Level 1 Teacher Training from Baron Baptiste, or permission from Suzie
  • 100% attendance to all scheduled classes (make up sessions may be scheduled with Suzie at $65 per hour)
  • 100% participation in all sessions and completion of course assignments
  • Attend 60 regularly scheduled classes at Namaspa (50% discount on all yoga passes and memberships to YTT students)
  • Pass the final exam with a 70% or higher score (will include written and oral portions)

Required Reading- Please purchase these books prior to the program

  • Journey Into Power, by Baron Baptiste

  • Yoga Sutras (any translation you prefer)

  • Anatomy and Asana, Preventing Yoga Injuries by Susi Hately Aldous

Weekend Intensives (Fridays: 6pm-10pm, Saturday and Sunday 8am-6:30pm):

Additional Saturday workshops, 1-4pm:                          11/6, 12/4, 1/8, 1/29, 2/19

Community Classes/Practice Teaching:                          Tue & Thur 4-5:15pm (20 minimum)

40 Days Program: 9/25-11/6 (recommended and required if you have not completed the 40 Days before; fee included in tuition)

Tuition:

$1900

20% discount for current Namaspa Teachers  or Teachers in Training, or if you will complete a Level 1 training with Baron Baptiste by Feb 2011 (acceptance letter required for discount) = $1520

$200 discount if prepaid by 9/1.

$100 application fee will be credited towards tuition for accepted candidates and will be refunded if you are not accepted to the program.

Program balance due 9/1, or 4 installments can be made with a service charge of $50 each.

Refunds:

The $100 application fee is non-refundable except for students who are not admitted.

Once the program has started, no refunds will be given.  Pro-rated credit may be transferred to future programs if you are unable to complete the program.
